Upgrading Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 to Use a Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Database

Overview Microsoft Dynamics CRM 3.0 provides a flexible and scalable customer relationship management application for the company. Microsoft CRM uses Microsoft SQL Server database software for its data storage and integrates tightly with Microsoft SQL Server Reporting Services to provide some of the Microsoft CRM reporting capabilities. Although Microsoft CRM supports both Microsoft SQL Server 2000 and Microsoft SQL Server 2005 for its database platform, many customers that use Microsoft SQL Server 2000 upgrade their databases to Microsoft SQL Server 2005 databases to take advantage of its performance, reporting and management enhancements. This paper explains how to upgrade SQL Server 2000 on the existing Microsoft CRM installation to the more powerful SQL Server 2005.
