Using Host Integration Server Printer Definition Files (PDFs) and Printer Definition Table (PDT) Files
Overview A PDF (Printer Definition File) is an editable ASCII file that contains macro definitions, session parameters, formatting controls, and character definitions. This file can be customized to provide function support. A PDT (Printer Definition Table) file is the compiled version of a PDF. A PDF/PDT file can be very simple, containing only basic instructions, or very complex, customized to support such functions as the changing of fonts or paper drawers. A PDF/PDT file does not format the data stream sent by the host application. Based on what is defined in the PDF/PDT file, control codes in the data stream can be replaced with defined equivalents, formatting codes can be sent to the printer (for example, CPI, LPI, or page size), or both.
