Firewalls White Papers

A Distributed Firewall Appliance

Overview Conventional Firewalls protect network entry points and are defining for a long time the outer network security perimeter. However the increasing need for computational power and the networking trends for increasing connectivity and higher bandwidth threatens this architecture to become obsolete in near future. This paper will describe the design and implementation of a distributed Firewall using iptables, ipf and netscreen and try to resolve a real world security problem for a large infrastructure of more than 250 servers.
