RFID Tag Data Security Infrastructure: A Common Ground Approach for Pharmaceutical Supply Chain Safety
Overview For the pharmaceutical industry to create a secure supply chain using RFID technology at the item-level, it needs a broader and more flexible approach - one that encompasses all stakeholder requirements and provides a range of implementation options. The industry is currently working toward the development of a new Item-Level Tagging (ILT) standard. This paper proposes requirements for ILT deployment and lays the foundation for a Tag Data Security Infrastructure (TDSI) for these initiatives. It defines the key deliverables and outlines the requirements of this "Common ground" approach. The TDSI is designed to expand and unify the industry's information technology ecosystem by incorporating both centralized and decentralized deployment options.
