Portman Building Society Standardizes Financial Management and Reporting to Boost Performance

Overview With more than 1.8 million members and over 140 branches, Portman Building Society is the U.K.'s third largest building society. Portman wanted to streamline and simplify financial management, reporting, and compliance across Portman and its acquired subsidiaries. The company wanted to improve business analysis and performance monitoring and standardize and automate purchasing across the society, consolidate processes, and reduce administration costs. Portman consolidated financial management on Oracle Financials, replacing four general ledgers and spreadsheet-based systems used by the smaller subsidiaries with a single general ledger and created a suite of reports using Oracle Discoverer to allow managers to explore transactional information in Oracle Cash Management and spot anomalies, such as overdue payments.
