A New Look for Network Support
Overview Service providers continue to consolidate staff and close unnecessary support centers. Large Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) have shifted from free to fee support service infrastructures while offering providers integrated support service packages. Specialized services companies continue to focus on individual capabilities, such as spare parts. Given the many available alternatives, providers can easily become confused regarding the optimal services support model. A new Single Point of Contact (SPOC) solution is emerging that supports multi-vendor and multi-technology networks. This paper discusses the current state of provider support models. It also describes several existing approaches used by providers around the globe.
