VoIP - IP Telephony White Papers
Integrating Voice, Data and Video
Overview IP video is now being deployed as part of triple play offerings. One approach is to integrate voice, data and video services and deliver these services over a single access line (either PON or xDSL). The voice service can be Plain Old Telephone Service (POTS), Voice over IP (VoIP) or Voice over ATM (VoATM) with high-speed Internet access used as the data service. Video is delivered as a mixture of IP multicast traffic or IP unicast traffic. Examples of IP video services include: broadcase TV, Pay Per View (PPV), and Video On Demand (VOD). The key to offering triple play is bundling. In its simplest form, service bundling is the packaging of different services for a single price.
