Universal WiMAX: The WiMAX Solution for Both Fixed and Mobile Operators
Overview WiMAX 802.16e-based solutions are available, perform much better than WiMAX 802.16d-based solutions for fixed applications, and are the only possible WiMAX solutions for mobile deployment. Thanks to mandatory advanced radio feature support in the terminal, WiMAX 802.16e will benefit from the availability of mass-market terminals with guaranteed interoperability performance. Alcatel's strategy is to support from the outset advanced, multiple - antenna technology that is the best solution for macrocellular deployment with minimum CAPEX, improved capacity, and best coverage quality. Alcatel's specific base station architecture and WiMAX 802.16e profiles allow further radio improvements in upcoming releases to maximize the capacity of the solution. The all - IP standard architecture of 16e networks allows interfacing with many operator networks, enabling access to new services and supporting end-to-end QoS.
