WiFi Networks Success Story: Saint Maarten International Telecommunications Services

Overview Saint Maarten International Telecommunications Services (SMITCOMS), a leading service provider in the Netherlands Antilles, wanted to provide wireless Internet and email access to island residents and to the more than two million people who visit annually that bring WiFi enabled devices. SMITCOMS required the project be completed in less than three weeks, in time for the upcoming cruise ship season. SMITCOMS found what it needed in the Lucent and BelAir Networks Wide-Area WiFi solution. A BelAir Networks Wide-Area mesh network was deployed, consisting of four BelAir200 Wireless Multi-service Switch Routers located strategically for optimal coverage.
