Integrate Data
Overview Windows Vista makes it simpler for developers to manipulate data. In particular, the new XPS packages, XPS Document format, and RSS capabilities make it easier for developers to integrate their data and build more data-aware applications. Windows Vista introduces the XML Paper Specification (formerly code-named "Metro"), or XPS, that describes the set of conventions for using XML and other widely available technologies to describe a container for application data. The Windows XPS Document technologies enable end users to create, annotate, and view fixed-layout paginated documents, as well as to digitally sign and apply rights management to those documents. RSS is an XML-based format used for syndicating news and Web logs (as well as other information) from Web sites.
