Generation 2: A User's Guide
Overview RFID technology is constantly evolving, and Generation 2 marks a milestone in the development of RFID for supply chain management applications. EPC Generation 2 was developed by the EPC Global community, including ThingMagic, to be a 'Best-of-breed' approach to RFID, and is intended to deliver improved performance in a number of areas, particularly how quickly large numbers of RFID tags can be read. Many RFID vendors have committed to support EPC Generation 2 - more than currently support EPC Generation. This will increase competition in the RFID market, which in turn will drive innovation, leading to reduced prices and increased performance over time.
