Distributed Sample Acquisition-Based Fast Cell Search in Inter-Cell Asynchronous DS/CDMA Systems
Overview This paper introduces a fast cell-search scheme based on the Distributed Sample Acquisition (DSA) technique for inter-cell asynchronous DS/CDMA systems. The proposed DSA scheme enables the long-code acquisition extremely fast even without employing any passive matched filter which used to dominate synchronization circuit complexity in asynchronous DS/CDMA systems. In the DSA-based asynchronous DS/CDMA system, each base station spreads its DQPSK-modulated long-code generator information with an assigned short-period igniter sequence, and broadcasts it as a common pilot signal.

Internet Content Adaptation Protocol: Pending Protocol Promises ISP Revenue Opportunities
ISPs deploy web caches to distribute content to the network edge, improving the customer experience and reducing backbone network traffic. The Internet Content Adaptation Protocol (iCAP) hopes to leverage these...
Taming the Quadrature Modulator
In any real system there are errors on all signals, and modulators are no exception. This paper focuses directly on the quadrature modulator (QM) system blocks. By applying a linear, first...
SGH-Q200 Samsung GPRS Wizard/EasyGPRS
This paper talks about the Samsung SGH-Q200 phone, which is supplied with the GPRS Wizard and EasyGPRS Windows applications. Samsung GPRS Wizard allows you to access the Internet by connecting...
Context-Aware Battery Management for Mobile Phones: A Feasibility Study
This paper proposes a system for context-aware battery management that warns the user when it detects that the phone battery can run out before the next charging opportunity is encountered....
Microwave Radio Network Planning in 3G
The introduction of 3G will have a signifi cant effect to cellular transmission (CT), which has to be taken into account in network planning. The increased capacity requirement will effect both the individual radio network links...
