Syracuse City School District: Telecommunications Convergence Enhances Learning, Improves Administrative Efficiency

Overview The Syracuse City School District (SCSD) was operating an analog phone system and aging IT network infrastructure that were expensive to support, reducing the efficiency of administrative staff and limiting student Internet and research opportunities. SCSD envisioned an advanced communications and network infrastructure that would improve the effectiveness of both administrative staff and teachers and enhance the learning experience of students. IBM Global Services has been working with the Syracuse City School District to deploy a state-of-the-art converged data and telephone network throughout the District's 22 schools over high-speed fiber infrastructure.
