University Standardizes Calendaring, Offers Mobile Support With Messaging Solution
Overview At Colorado State University (CSU), half the faculty and staff kept their calendars in Microsoft Exchange Server 2003 and half in Oracle Calendar, leading to difficulties in coordinating schedules. Meanwhile, demand was increasing for full-featured mobile connectivity. To address these issues, CSU decided to install Microsoft Exchange Server 2007 as the campus-wide communication and collaboration server. Users will be able to manage schedules efficiently from either their desks or mobile devices. Users also gain a full-featured mobile client (Microsoft Office Outlook Web Access), improved performance from 64-bit computing, and a fivefold increase in storage for e-mail. Meanwhile, the IT department gains scripting tools, efficiency in consolidated training, and scalability that promises additional future return on investment.
