Infrastructure Upgrades Drive Better Collaboration, Faster Development at Hyundai

Overview Korea-based Hyundai Kia Automotive Group manufactures and sells motor vehicles throughout the world. But the group's software infrastructure hindered its ability to communicate and collaborate efficiently across regions. The 100,000 users placed a heavy demand on the group's server system, employees struggled with outdated collaboration software, and developers took a long time to create new applications. Then the automotive group upgraded its infrastructure to Microsoft Windows Server 2003 and Exchange Server 2003. It also migrated its collaborative applications to the Microsoft .NET Framework and adopted that technology as its development standard. With these changes, the group dramatically improved its ability to collaborate globally, enhanced the capabilities of its server software, and reduced its application development time by 30 to 40 percent.
