Overview ASPIRE Academy of Sports Excellence is an elite sports educational institute commissioned by the Arabian Gulf nation of Qatar to identify promising student-athletes and develop them into Olympic champions. ASPIRE sought a resilient, practical-to-manage network that would deliver Gigabit connectivity at the core and to the desktop, as well as high-speed wireless links throughout its dome and academy buildings. After evaluating solutions from Cisco, Extreme, and Nortel, ASPIRE selected the 3Com Gigabit Ethernet core, desktop switching, wireless, and Power over Ethernet (PoE) solution for its feature-rich price/performance, resiliency, scalability, and overall total cost of ownership.
