A Streaming Media Solution for Broadband Networks Windows Media 9 Series
Overview To meet the increasing challenge of encoding, processing and distributing large volumes of streaming audio and video content, Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard and Intel have created the WM9S Solution for Network Operators. This solution relies on a powerful combination of hardware and software components, including Intel Xeon processor-based ProLiant servers from Hewlett-Packard and Windows Media 9 Series Audio (WMA) and Video (WMV) codecs. These codecs deliver high quality digital media to a wide variety of playback devices, including wireless notebooks based on the Intel Centrino mobile technology and desktop computers featuring Intel Pentium 4 processors and PocketPCs powered by Intel XScale technology with wireless Ethernet connectivity, optimised for accelerated decoding of audio and video streams.
