Outsourcing Abroad - What's the Impact on Personal Data?

Overview Outsourcing operations abroad can result in cost savings of up to 30%. As a result, many organisations have chosen to outsource non-core business processes overseas, where processing costs are cheaper and/or where they can take advantage of greater economies of scale. There are, however, some major risks associated with choosing this strategy: potential damage to the organisation's reputation if the strategy is poorly managed, opening the organisation up to breaches of the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA) as well as potentially affecting the quality of the customer experience.
