Firewire Hard Drives

Overview Firewire is a high-speed serial connection that allows for asynchronous and isochronous data transfers. The IEEE 1394 specification was originally created by Apple in 1995 and was developed in coordination with the IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers) group. The Firewire standard has been adopted by a number of manufacturers and can now be found on a variety of devices, such as digital cameras, CD recorders, computer audio interfaces, and hard drives and other storage devices. Firewire hard drives are actually IDE hard drives with an interface controller. This controller transfers the data between the Firewire bus and the IDE hard drive.
