Reliance Mutual Lowers Costs With StarOffice and Sun
Overview Since 1911, Reliance Mutual has specialised in the provision of a wide range of financial products and services, including life assurance, pensions and investment products. The company completed a major programme to re-structure and consolidate its operations, with a view to reducing costs and increasing efficiency. As part of this consolidation programme, Reliance Mutual's IT department has taken the opportunity to review the company's IT infrastructure - and to reduce costs by identifying the most efficient and cost-effective way of delivering applications to users throughout the company. At the same time, they were working on a project to identify a set of office productivity applications, and were interested in Sun Microsystems' StarOffice suite of office productivity tools.
