HP Pay Per Use Percent and Active Core for HP 9000 and Integrity Servers

Overview The unique HP Pay Per Use (PPU) metering system is designed for businesses with widely varying or unpredictable demand for computing resources. With Pay per use, customers pay a variable monthly bill for HP Integrity servers running HP-UX, Microsoft Windows Server 2003, OpenVMS, or all three and HP 9000 servers running HP-UX based on core utilization. Two usage metrics are available to compute core utilization: Percent Core (all supported platforms) and Active Core (HP-UX and OpenVMS only). The generic terms "Core utilization" or "Usage" are used in this white paper to discuss concepts that apply to both metrics.
