Successful Implementation of an RFID-Enabled Baggage Tracking and Control System Using BEA WebLogic Server
Overview Korean air carrier Asiana Airlines and its IT integrator, sister company Asiana IDT, wished to evaluate using Radio Frequency IDentification (RFID) technology for Asiana Airlines' baggage handling in a demonstration project. The RFID technology chosen needed to be integrated into a cost-effective, reliable, and scalable system that could handle the demonstration project and expand if successful. Asiana IDT selected BEA WebLogic Server 8.1 and BEA WebLogic Workshop running on Intel-based servers for dependable performance and flexibility. The resulting reliable, standards-based system was also considered ideal for adaptability and scalability.
