Mail System Cuts Licence and Hardware Costs 40 Per Cent, Management Costs 20 Per Cent
Overview Dohler is a leading manufacturer of fruit juice concentrates, compounds, purees, and flavourings for the beverage and dairy industries. The company, which employs 1,600 people, uses e-mail and electronic calendars to support its international business activities. Historically, these functions were managed by IBM Lotus Notes 5, but this system could no longer manage group e-mails reliably and it was difficult to synchronise data with handheld devices. To address these issues, the company deployed Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, which offers high availability for critical communications, reliable group mails, and fast synchronisation of key business data with mobile devices. The company estimates that the new system will deliver a licensing and hardware saving of 40 per cent over five years.
