Mobile Operator Replaces Lotus Notes Infrastructure to Support Mobile and Home Working
Overview BASE, Belgium's fastest-growing mobile operator, historically operated a Lotus Notes system to manage its e-mail messaging and databases. However, this system could no longer support the company's needs for mobile and home working. To address this issue, BASE replaced Lotus Notes altogether, migrating e-mail services to Microsoft Office Outlook 2003 and the database to the Microsoft .NET Framework. Microsoft Exchange Server 2003, the new messaging engine, offers fast, secure access to e-mail messages, calendar information, and contacts from any Internet-connected PC or mobile device. Employees can now keep in touch with customers, business partners, and colleagues more effectively. The solution is fully outsourced to technology partner HostBasket, significantly increasing control over the IT budget.
