Overview PEtroleos MEXicanos (PEMEX), one of the largest state petroleum companies in the world, created the Corporate Information System (SICORI) to generate a flow of information to support operations in its central agency and subsidiary agencies specializing in exploration, production, petrochemistry, refining and gas. SICORI needed to make a definitive decision regarding its future: to implement a geospatial database constructed according to the guidelines and standards set out by the Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). Oracle Spatial 10g was the solution selected to respond to this challenge. Oracle Spatial 10g was selected because it provides native storage and management of geospatial data in Oracle Database.
