Server Consolidation White Papers

VMware Virtual Server Integration With IBM Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator (ITIO) and IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager (ITPM)

Overview Resource utilization is often out of balance, resulting in the low-performance resources being overloaded with requests while the high-performance resources remain idle. Virtual servers allow a server to be assigned processing resources and to increase or decrease these resources based on the application performance requirement. Using virtual servers the processing power can change and reshape to maintain a certain level of performance without detrimentally affecting the user experience. This paper details the different types of virtual servers in the marketplace today and also the different techniques prevalent for incorporating them into a data center. The integration of these virtual servers into the IBM Tivoli Intelligent Orchestrator (ITIO)/IBM Tivoli Provisioning Manager (ITPM) environment will then be discussed and shown.
