IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS V2R3: A Primer to Monitor Resources

Overview What are monitor resources? Monitor resources are policy objects that allow a person to obtain the health state of other resources, typically Applications or Application Groups. The health state is useful when one need to know how well the resource is performing and not just that it is active. System Automation (SA) z/OS operators are informed about the status of resources from the Automation Manager (AM) or Automation Agent (AA). MoniTor Resources (MTRs) are a new function in IBM Tivoli System Automation for z/OS V2R3 (SA z/OS 2.3). The purpose of this paper is to assist reader with writing monitor routines, creating MTR policy definitions, and using the SA z/OS operator interface to manage the monitor resources.
