Children's Healthcare of Atlanta: Measuring Business Value From High Availability and Disaster Recovery
Overview Children's Healthcare of Atlanta (Children's) is a world renowned pediatric hospital system serving the Atlanta metropolitan area and the entire state of Georgia. High availability and data protection are top priorities for the IT organization, as patient care is a true 24x7 business-critical endeavor. Faced with the need to standardize on one software infrastructure, which would help it avoid IT staff specialization and segmentation, the IT team sought to deploy a cost-effective data replication and application failover software solution. In mid 2003, Children's began to investigate different approaches to disaster recovery and high availability. They ultimately determined that an integrated software infrastructure using VERITAS software, including NetBackup, Storage Foundation and Volume Replicator, would provide the most cost-effective solution.
