AOK Bavaria Protects Life Against Disaster With IBM

Overview Headquartered in Bonn, AOK is Germany's largest health insurance company, with more than 25 million policy holders - nearly one third of the entire population. In Bavaria, one of the largest federal states in Germany, AOK insures 4.3 million people and has 12,000 employees in 39 administrative offices and 250 customer centres. The company needed to Store and manage very large volumes of data (required by law to be retained for 30 years), and protect the business against data loss, backing up data within progressively shorter time windows. The company implemented IBM TotalStorage Peer-to-Peer Virtual Tape Server Model B20, IBM Tivoli Storage Manager, planned implementation of IBM TotalStorage 3592 Tape Drives.
