Capacity, Financial and Service Level Management: The IT Bermuda Triangle?
Overview The three IT disciplines Service Level Management (SLM), Financial Management (FM) and Capacity Management (CM) form the core of an area of ITIL Service Management, namely Service Delivery. Collectively and when implemented correctly, these IT areas can contribute to an effective and thus successful IT Organization. Paradoxically these areas form some of the biggest mysteries of modern IT times. This paper presents a high-level overview of these 3 crucial areas of IT. How they collectively interact and how they interact with other ITIL and IT disciplines. The paper draws comparisons to the "Bermuda Triangle", reveals some of the myths and non-mysteries of these 3 IT areas.
