TUPE Helps BAA Retain Critical IT Skills
Overview As part of BAA's 'Smart Sourcing' strategy, Computacenter is responsible for delivering a range of IT services across the company's UK estate of 10,500-plus desktops and laptops. When the scope of this agreement was expanded to include second line support, the companies faced a critical employment challenge. BAA was keen not only to retain the skills of the staff involved in providing the services to ensure business continuity but also to protect their future employment as part of the agreement with Computacenter. Thanks to Computacenter's previous TUPE (Transfer of Undertaking Protection of Employment) experience, it was not only able to advise BAA on the ramifications of the regulations but also reassure the company about the success of the process with its high staff retention rates.
