Knowledge and Data Management White Papers

Achieving Operational Effectiveness by Leveraging Knowledge

Overview Operational Effectiveness (OE) refers to any number of practices that allow an organisation to better utilize its inputs by, for example, reducing defects in products or developing better products faster. This is the second in a series of papers on Operational Effectiveness. The first paper, "Strategy is wasted without 'Operational effectiveness (OE)'", introduced the concept and its origins. It also identified the "OE cycle"; four interconnected meta-activities that focus on functional performance and process improvement. This paper looks in more detail at the OE Cycle and explores the importance of knowledge and leverage when pursuing organizational effectiveness.
