Seamless Platform Mobility Across Wireless Networks

IEEE 802.11k and 802.11r are key platform ingredients for optimum connectivity in the WLAN environment. IEEE 802.11k provides radio and network information for roaming discovery. A smart roaming algorithm on the client selects the best AP that can provide high throughput and adequate QoS service. IEEE 802.11r provides fast and secure solution for BSS transitions. IEEE 802.21 provides mechanisms for fast handovers across Wi-Fi, WiMAX and cellular networks. These standards are target capabilities on Intel mobile platforms.
