Inside the Intel Core Microarchitecture

Overview This presentation describes the physical implementations of Intel's multi-core processors on the 2005 and 2006 Intel platforms and explains the technical and performance differences between Dual/Multi-Core and Hyper Threading Technology. The presentation also describes the software compatibility, optimizations and performance of Intel's multi-core processors and provides insight into the differences between shared and independent cache architectures. A discussion of bus traffic behaviour between Hyper Threading processors and Multi-Core processors and an overview of Intel's next generation micro-architecture for Intel multi-core processors are provided.
