Performance Management of Metro Ethernet Services
Overview As more and more forms of communication are migrated to Enterprise and consumer networks (voice, video, database access, data storage, imagery, real-time applications) the demand for bandwidth is accelerating. Metro Ethernet offers the highest speed and lowest price-per-bit to date, making it a great opportunity to service providers and their customers to meet that growing demand. But Metro Ethernet performance is not as certain as it is for ATM and Frame Relay. This paper discusses the challenges of Metro Ethernet performance and how it must be continuously supervised by service-centric performance management to ensure business success.
