Entry points into SOA: Taking a business-centered approach

Overview Mercer Management Consultants recently found that companies approached service-oriented architecture (SOA) from the entry points of integrating people, processes, information, or some combination of the three. Once companies identify critical aspects of their businesses, IBM can provide them with SOA entry points for peak connectivity and reuse. For example, WebSphere Portal can drive people-centric collaboration with alert-driven SOA dashboards to more closely monitor business performance. In addition to the immediate payoff for business productivity, service-enabling core IT assets for reuse can also save money in the long run; one study estimates it is five times less expensive to reuse services than to rewrite them.
