SQL Apply Best Practices: Oracle Data Guard 10g Release 2

Overview With Oracle Data Guard SQL Apply in Oracle Database 10g, Oracle is addressing the requirements of the business community for an online disaster-recovery solution that also provides a means to offload reporting and decision support operations from the primary database. A logical standby database contains the same logical information as the production database, although the physical organization and structure of the data can be different. A logical standby database is kept synchronized with its primary database through SQL Apply, which transforms the data in the redo received from the primary database into SQL statements and then executes the SQL statements on the standby database.
