Founded in 1927, the University of Houston is one of Texas' leading public academic research and teaching institutions. With the appointment of a new president in 2003 and a growing need within the information technology organization for improved, expanded and more formalized training and professional development opportunities, the university's IT training staff needed to create and implement a learning program that would address the needs and priorities of IT professionals, as well as students, faculty and other university staff for personal and professional development. Already a user of SkillSoft IT courseware, the University of Houston became SkillSoft's first enterprise-wide education partner in the United States in 2004, offering the SkillChoice Complete business skills, IT and desktop solution to the entire campus community.
