Enterprise Database Performance on Dual Core Servers: A Comparison of the Dell PowerEdge 2850 and HP ProLiant DL385

Overview The introduction of Intel based dual core processors offers a new level of performance to customers. Industry standard Intel based servers have continued to provide customers with increasing levels of performance. By putting two processing cores into a single socket this performance increase has continued. In order to illustrate the performance advantage of Intel Xeon processors the same OLTP based workload was run on a Dell PowerEdge 2850 using Intel Xeon dual core processors and the ProLiant DL385 AMD dual core Opteron based server from Hewlett Packard (HP).
