Porting DataViewer From Palm OS to Windows Mobile-Based Pocket PCs and Smartphones More Than Doubles Sales

Overview Town Compass, LLC was founded in 1999 with a mission to package information for handheld access. Although Town Compass initially designed Data-Viewer for the Palm OS, the company wanted to expand its product line to accommodate additional handheld platforms such as the Microsoft Windows Mobile-based Pocket PC. Using the Microsoft eMbedded Visual C++ development system, Town Compass created a database engine for the Pocket PC, which works with the Palm database format. The company also designed an improved user interface for the Pocket PC. Later, Town Compass ported the Pocket PC code to the Smartphone and created a unified code base for both platforms.
