Overview As a major player in the Hong Kong construction industry, the MTR Corporation knows the importance of ensuring the quality of construction materials provided by contractors. So the company, which builds and operates urban railways (as well as being a developer of both retail and residential properties), recently set up MTR Materials Assurance (MA), a specialist group to develop quality assurance systems that use RFID. Using ICODE smart labels which were developed with the assistance of ACG (Asia Pacific) Pte Ltd based in Singapore, the RFID solution is already providing benefits in the materials testing process, improving quality control and assurance, and eliminating the problems in the sourcing and tracking of concrete samples.
