Overview From tunnels bored through the Allegheny Mountains to the busy interchanges of the state's largest cities, the Pennsylvania Turnpike is in its sixth decade of service. As roadways across the nation continue to become more congested, traffic managers strive to make travel safer and more efficient through intelligent transportation solutions that help them collect, analyze, distribute, and act upon roadway information. Cisco Systems worked with partners IntelliMark, and TransCore, to develop and implement an end-to-end wireless network design. The network incorporates wireless technology with enhanced security and ATM technology that allows greater bandwidth, to help Pennsylvania Turnpike better manage and monitor roadways and more efficiently move traffic along the toll road.
