Overview Intrusion detection systems help data centers and other computer installations prepare for and deal with electronic attacks. Usually deployed as a component of a larger, comprehensive information systems security infrastructure with a set of security policies, the detection systems themselves are of two main types. They can be network-based, where traffic "on the wire" is the subject of intrusion detection scrutiny. The Cisco Intrusion Detection System (Cisco IDS) product line provides flexible solutions for data center security. Data centers are experiencing an increase in network security threats resulting in the loss of revenue, productivity and business opportunity.
