Unicomp Combines Intel Architecture With Open Source Software to Provide a Cost-Effective, Powerful, and Flexible IT Solution

Overview AStra MOtor III (ASMO) needed to increase its production capacity by 2.5 times to meet strong market demand, but upgrading its existing server infrastructure to manage the additional requirements would prove costly. ASMO needed a cost-effective solution to handle the added data processing needs the higher production capacity demanded. The company decided to move their server infrastructure and deployed HP Integrity servers powered by Intel Itanium 2 processors running HP-UX 11i and migrated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system based on SAP R/3 version 4.6C with modules covering production planning, material management, finance and human resources, including underlying Oracle database and data warehouses.
