HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option: mpx100 Fibre Channel to iSCSI Data Transport Performance White Paper

Overview The mpx100 is a data transport device used to connect one or two Fibre Channel storage ports to one or two Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) IP ports. This allows standard host NICs or TOE NICs from GbE LANs to access SCSI storage using the iSCSI protocol. The HP StorageWorks EVA iSCSI Connectivity Option uses one or two mpx100 data transports to connect one Enterprise Virtual Array (EVA) controller pair to iSCSI hosts. The mpx100 performance is limited by factors that are inherent to the iSCSI protocol when using the metric of data rate (MB/sec). The mpx100 is limited by its CPU power when I/O rate (IOPs) is the metric of interest.
