Benefits of Task-Based Change Management
Overview In 1996, when Continuus Software Corporation (acquired by Telelogic in 2000) introduced Task-Based Change Management (CM) to the marketplace, the practice of software change management was primarily file based. Software project configurations were defined, built, and tested in terms of collections of versioned files and version labels. Since then, a fair percentage of project teams have moved up to advanced change management solutions and have embraced Task-Based CM. However, many teams still struggle with traditional file-based approaches to software development. This paper describes how Task-Based CM has transformed software change management and the benefits it offers to all members of a software development team.
