From client information to a small firm's intellectual property, caring for privacy is not only good business but can prevent a wide range of problems ranging from minor embarrassment to a law suit. An unprotected email is like sending a post-card through cyber-space. While transiting it is routed through multiple servers, and an email containing a client's financial details can be easily read by people other than the designated recipient. Furthermore, with an accidental keystroke, email can be unintentionally misdirected to an unknown party, thereby increasing the severity of the security breach.
