Building Carrier-Class SS7 Solutions Using VoIP

Overview Protel, a large Internet Telephony Service Provider (ITSP) servicing the Latin and North American markets, was looking for a reliable solution for its long distance services. Searching for a fully redundant topology with no single point of failure, the desired system had to integrate with local switches supporting the Mexican variant SS7 (NOM112) while also supporting international ANSI over a T-1 connection. A critical factor in its choice of new platforms was how to increase capacity from the limited number of Destination Point Codes (DPCs) that could be supported by Protel's current solution. Arelnet's robust i-Tone System provides a scalable solution to support hundreds of thousands of ports using a redundant topology.
