Overview
The Central Board of Excise and Customs (CBEC) is part of the Department of Revenue under the Ministry of Finance in India. CBEC wanted to reduce the number of manual tasks associated with processing import and export documents and lower costs. They wanted to increase productivity and efficiency and at the same time improve data accuracy. CBEC wanted to facilitate trade in imports and exports. CBEC implemented online transaction processing system based on computerized workflows and built using Oracle Database and reduced the number of export document processing procedures from 15 to five.
