HP OpenView and ITIL Capacity Management
Overview HP OpenView is one of the four major system management framework tools, the others being Tivoli from IBM, Unicenter from Computer Associates and Patrol from BMC. In common with all frameworks, HP OpenView provides support for many of the processes defined by the UK Office of Government Computing (OGC) Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). This paper considers the applicability of HP OpenView as a tool to provide Capacity Management in accordance with ITIL 'best practice' guidelines. It then suggests a means of enhancing HP OpenView's functionality to provide a more complete solution and provides practical examples of this approach.
